scored a hard fought win in their round 1 match-up with WMS
Racing to kick off the AusFactor team series today. MDR driver
DLegend took the lead off the start and battled with WMS
speedster Old Fart, whilst Triggerfish maintained a very
creditable top four position, battling Adsta, throughout the
majority of the contest, to take the third place honours.
Meanwhile, Quasi and Maxcat put
in solid performances to finish fifth and sixth, to pick up
valuable team points going into race 2.
The second heat saw Old Fart
regain his form from the grid, but found the second 10 lapper an
intense dual, with DLegend hunting any opportunity to regain his
leading position from race 1. With a few minor race incidents in
race 2 it was obvious the WMS boys were intent on regaining the
upper hand for a round win, and when Donsta, of WMS, spun early
it seemed Quasi would move up cleanly, but the two came
together, forcing Quasi to complete the remaing 6 laps with no
front spoiler, and therefore no downforce. Straight line speed
became a problem, and Quasi watched Adsta widen the gap as the
race continued.
Maxcat continued to battle
with Butakup right to the end, consolidating a handy sixth place
at the chequered flag.
The MDR boys now get a week
off for round 2, in a fortnight, but look forward to taking on
Devil Racing Team in round 3. |
