tRound three of the TeamOz 'Bathurst Legends 1969' series saw the three car team from Online Racing Australia all fail to finish, victims of the sand traps at the Northern Territory circuit.

First to succumb to 'beaching it' was ORA-1LostPuppy, in his Falcon GTHO, in the earlier stages, and bogged the car up to it's axles before calling it a day.

Next was ORA-Quasi, also in a falcon GTHO, who had blown an engine in qualifying. After starting 27th on the near capacity grid Quasi worked his way up to 17th by lap 19, and was looking toward a top 10 finish in the 75 lap event, but on lap 22 overshot the turn 5 hairpin, and in an effort to get out of the soft sand blew his 351 V8 engine, bringing the teams second DNF.

This left Adsta, in a GTS Monaro, who had been circulating just into the top 10 before running wide at turn 1, and also succumbing to a sand trap, when he too destroyed an V8 engine in an effort to rejoin the race.

"My little mistakes have been turning into major disasters lately." Adsta said afterward.  "I Qualified around 20th, and after an expected chaotic start I was stoked to gain a few spots and not put a scratch in the ol' girl. I Settled into a never ending run of consistent laps. I checked my fuel heading down the main straight, and had 4 litres left and sitting around 10th. When I pull into pits after next lap for tyres and fuel. I was pretty happy with run, a lap down but happy."

"I left the pits in 14th, and again started to run consistent laps. Heading down the main straight OzMafia comes bearing down on me, so I let him pass me just before turn 1, as he was a lap up. Entering turn 1 on a totally new line caught me off guard, and I slid off the outside of the circuit and into the sand trap where unfortunately the old girl stuck and then cooked the big Chev V8 before I could get out.......race over. "

After the event team owner Steve Hoppitt was almost philosophical, saying "Well, our enging guy will be busy this week, in the workshop, and none too happy with things. The guys managed to destroy three engines between Quasi and Adsta, with Puppy lucky to not do the same thing, though all three cars going out in sand traps was not exactly in the strategy for this round".
