A mix bag of racing enthusiasts will gather at Sydney's Oran Park Raceway tonight for the opening round of the 2009 HistorX series for 'Historic GT & Touring Cars', hosted by Mad Dog Racing.

Although the series is restricted to to the 1965 touring car category it promises to provide exciting, and at times surprising racing, in a varied field which includes Mustangs, Jaguars, Falcon Sprints, Austin Minis, Fiats, Alphas, and the very popular Lotus Cortinas.

The field of drivers is also a varied one, with not only experienced HistorX drivers, but newcomers to the catagory.

The series will take place over six rounds, at a mixture of Australian tracks, selected to give each vehicle an equal chance at the championship, dependant on the pros and cons of each one. Rounds are once per month and promise to thrill all competitors.
