Race Report By ORA-Phase3
Saturday the 19th of December marked the Inaugural ORA Targa Monster. Nineteen ambitious drivers nominated themselves to tackle the infamous Nordschlieffe racetrack or the Green monster as it known amongst the racing community.

The racers disembarked on a hellish journey of 24 laps or 500km at about 9:00am. The first few laps passed by without many driver errors with the track only claiming a couple of innocent drivers lives. As the race progressed more and more drivers succumbed to the deadly trackside barriers. Pit Manager Lionel told ORA Round-Up that it was the most flat tyres he has ever seen in a race. Our resident statistician has tallied up the results and the final number of flats came to 258. Of these 258, ORA-Phase3 and WMS-OldFrt are said to have accounted for roughly 250.

Riftcreator and his team spent all of the night before preparing the car for the race as he had a nasty crash in practice that meant the team pretty much had to rebuild the entire car. He had this to say about the race. 'I can't believe I finished, talk about tired. At race finish I'd been up for 19 hours & 50mins in total."

ORA-Octane celebrating being the only person ever to complete more than two laps of the track without receiving any damage. However Octane will be receiving a fine of 30% his race fee for practicing too much. This fine handed down by ORA-Phase3.
"To be honest, this was my most satisfying rFactor drive to date. In 500km, I didn’t have a single spin, and only had a couple of 'moments' making me slightly run wide, or slightly tapping a couple of walls. So I'm stoked."

Triggerfish summed up the event perfectly. "Monster is the way to describe that race. Toughest drive I have had to date. Bringing it home on the lead lap in the top 5 was enough for me to be stoked."

The event this year included 11 fatalities including veterans WMS-OldFrt whose autopsy has shown he actually died of a brain fade and also ORA-Quasi whose last words are said to have been "Oh, Bugger!" The race directors would like to send there condolences to the families of these victims of this cruel racetrack.

WMS-OldFrt received a posthumous Tripod Award for driving the most laps with only three good wheels.

On a brighter note, 8 of the 19 starters managed to complete the race the final time being 3:22. First place went to ORA-Octane followed by <AVA>GB and OzSquirrell. A big congratulations goes out to all the drivers who stuck it out and managed to finish the race. Also a big thank you must go out tos to Lionel for making sure all the cars made it around the track smoothly without any hiccups.
